Kirkepiscatoid

Random and not so random musings from a 5th generation NE Missourian who became a 1st generation Episcopalian. Let the good times roll!

I normally don't do "pass alongs" on my blog, preferring to do mostly my original work, but for those of us in the Episco-blogosphere, this one is too important NOT to pass along.

One of the main reasons I became Episcopalian is b/c Richard Hooker's "three legged stool" of "Scripture, tradition, and reason" makes perfectly good sense to me. It is how I have grown by leaps and bounds in my personal discipleship as a follower of Christ.

Read their web page here, and be sure and read Elizabeth Kaeton's erudite explanation of why this is important here.

I know enough to shut up and let these people do the talking, so I will. I do, however, invite you to pass this message along to your blogs!

Thanks, Doc.

I always come here to get calm, sit quietly and stare longingly at the sky...there is plenty to see.

Thanks K,
Leonardo

Well, and part of that calm, Leonardo, comes because folks like Hooker were wise enough to see that we do not check our brains at the hat check when we stand before God.

God gave us minds to think, hands to hold, hearts to feel and give love. I feel very sad about those who seem to want to change what the core of relating to the Almighty in what I call "the Anglican sense" is all about. Very sad indeed.

So rest assured tonight I will make a fire and spend some face time with God--a God who loves each of us for all of who we are, who loves our inquring, and sometimes skeptical minds.
